WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The West Seneca Police Department is trying to up their social media game in a big way.
With thousands of new followers on Twitter and Facebook, things are taking off and it's thanks in part to a little comic relief they're providing on a daily basis.
"If we can make anyone's day better just by giving them a smile or something to laugh at during these stressful times, it's good for us and it's good for the public," West Seneca Police Lieutenant James Unger said. "We're enjoying it."
They've turned heads with their Twitter threads, especially Wednesday night when they tweeted a play-by-play version of events surrounding a little boy dropping a family heirloom down a drainage pipe.
The response has been great and the Police Department is hoping their audience continues to grow and assist in any way.
"We've been able to increase the number of followers we have," Unger said. "So when we do put out information like request an ID on somebody in a larceny or something like that, we just have that many more sets of eyes following us that can help us out to solve crimes too."
