BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The U.S. Attorney's Office says a West Seneca man was arrested and charged by complaint with possession of child pornography and destruction of evidence.

Officials say investigators allegedly discovered an IP address in September 2019 that was traced to 33-year-old Shawn Johnson requesting child pornography files on a peer to peer sharing network.

The FBI obtained a search warrant for Johnson's West Seneca home in December 2019 and as investigators entered the home they heard loud noises on the second floor. Officials say Johnson was allegedly smashing his laptop against the wall trying to damage it.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says the laptop was repaired and 80% of the data was recovered which allegedly included numerous images and videos of child pornography.

Johnson is due to make an initial appearance in court Thursday.
