BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — West Buffalo Charter School was put on lockout due to a SWAT situation on Dewitt Street. Buffalo Police say the suspect came out of the house and surrendered to police peacefully, with his hands up.
But it all started about two hours earlier when a 911 call came in around 12:30 p.m. Neighbors in the area say they heard gunshots and saw a woman naked, outside the house yelling for help. Police arrived a short time later, but they said the suspect refused to come outside.
BPD is on scene of a barricaded subject on Dewitt St. Dewitt St. is closed between Breckenridge and Lafayette. The public is asked to avoid the area.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo said the suspect is now in custody and the woman was not seriously hurt.
A parent of a student at West Buffalo Charter School said parents were notified about the situation around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The students were able to go home at their normal dismissal time.
