BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WKBW) — Wegmans is expanding into New York City this fall, with hiring and training underway for a new location at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Wegmans plans to employ approximately 500 people at the Brooklyn location, which includes 150 full-time positions.

“Here at Wegmans, you drive your own development and the opportunities are truly what you make of them,” said Brooklyn Store Manager Kevin Cuff, who began working for Wegmans 21 years ago when he was 16 years old. “You are more than just a number. You are a family member who has a voice and an opportunity to do whatever it is you are passionate about.”

The Brooklyn location is set to be a 74,000 square-foot supermarket with a second floor mezzanine which will include 100 seats for the market cafe and a bar.

In February, Wegmans was named one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Wegmans will open a Virginia Beach, Virginia location on April 28th and a Raleigh North Carolina location on September 29th.
