ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) — If you're planning on adopting a rescue dog or cat, a proposed bill in the New York state Senate would give you a tax credit.

A bill sponsored by Sen. Phil Boyle (R-Bay Shore) would provide a $100 tax credit for each cat or dog adopted from a shelter.

This would apply to a maximum of three cats or dogs per year.

The bill is currently in committee.
