BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Western New York Land Conservancy is inviting the public to attend an open house to vote on the top designs for a new greenway and nature trail along Buffalo's waterfront.

Along the old DW&L rail corridor will be a new trail that extends a mile and a half from Solar City to the DL&W Terminal downtown near Canalside. The trail will transform this formerly industrial landscape into an environmentally-friendly, multi-use trail.

The Land Conservancy is now revealing the top 25 designs submitted as part of the DL&W Corridor Design Ideas Competition. Nearly one hundred proposals were submitted to the design ideas competition from individuals and teams across the region, country and around the world! Now, the Buffalo community can come and vote on the designs.

The winner from the community vote will win a $3,000 prize. An additional three winners will also win monetary prizes. All four will be announced later this spring. The top winner will not necessarily be the final design for the project; instead it will be generated over the next year from the ideas and conversations cultivated by the competition.

The open house will take place tonight (Wednesday, April 10th) at the M&T Center Atrium downtown. It runs from 6 to 8 PM with a short presentation at 7. It is free to attend and open to everyone, but advanced registration is recommended to speed up the check-in process.
