DEPEW, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Village Board of Trustees in Depew announced that this year's Beggars Night is canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Beggars Night is held every year on October 30th in Depew's Barnabas and Evane/Enez neighborhoods.

Each year the event brings between 4,000 and 5,000 people.

The village board says it feels that Beggars Night would, "pose an unsafe environment during this pandemic."

Meantime, the village is holding 'Trunk N Treat' on Halloween night.

Several trucks from the Depew Fire Department, Depew Police Department, and other department vehicles will distribute candy to trick-or-treaters who stay in their vehicles at 90 Gould Avenue.

The event takes place on Halloween from 6-8 p.m.

You must follow all COVID-19 guidelines and candy will not be handed out to people who walk up to the trucks.
