EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — As shoppers continue to buy essentials some stores are making sure they're protecting both their customers and employees from the Coronavirus. Vidler's in East Aurora is one of them.

"What we've done now is we've been buying hand sanitizer in bulk, in gallon jugs, and constantly refilling the small containers like this right now that's at every register," said Clifford Deflyer, Co-owner of Vidler's.

The reason for that is cashiers are constantly handling money and credit cards from customers and reusable shopping bags. And employees are also washing their hands more frequently.

Vidler's candy section is one of the places that employees are making sure to wipe down more frequently with disinfecting wipes.

"We sell a lot of bulk candy here and individual candy, it's a very popular busy area. But we're also wiping down the registers, the counters," said Deflyer. "We're really trying to protect against just anything people are handling constantly."

Western New York has not had any confirmed cases of the Coronavirus yet, and Deflyer said he's grateful for that.

So at Vidler's the doors are open, and it's business as usual with a little more precaution.

"I just encourage people not to live in fear. You know, just be wise about it, wash you hands with soap and water," said Deflyer.
