Veterans can adopt a furry friend for free at Niagara SPCA from November 11 to November 16

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara SPCA announced it will waive adoption fees for veterans starting Veterans Day week.

Officials with the animal shelter say there able to waive the fees because of the Pets & Patriots program.

“We are so excited to be able to waive the adoption fee for our local vets who have sacrificed so much for us" said Tim Brennan, Executive Director at Niagara SPCA. "Animals have the ability to offer emotional support to our heroes and knowing they will be going to a good home is a win-win for everyone and a great way for us to thank our veterans for their service."

Veterans interested in adopting an animal from the shelter must present their military ID. The adoption fee will be waived for individuals on active duty, honorable discharge, service-disabled veterans or those retired from military service. The Niagara SPCA is located in Niagara Falls. The SPCA Serving Erie County also announced it has waived adoption fees for veterans. Veterans can currently adopt an animal at the shelter in West Seneca until Monday, November 11.
