BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In the wake of recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, the Venezuelan government is warning its citizens not to travel to certain U.S. cities. On the list: Buffalo.
The list was based off one complied by Forbes.
Buffalo police said this was a cheap shot.
"I can tell you that our shootings are at a nine-year low," said Captain Jeff Rinaldo. "Our homicides are down. Our clearance rates for homicides are up. The amount of participation and cooperation from the public is through the ceiling. So again I think it was just a cheap shot, and my response would be if you live in a glass house you probably shouldn't throw stones."
In 2017, Mexico’s Citizens Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice declared Caracas, Venezuela the most dangerous capital city in the world.
Amnesty International also issued a global warning to anyone traveling to United States in the wake of the mass shootings.
Amnesty International today issued a travel warning calling for travelers and visitors to the United States to exercise extreme caution due to rampant gun violence, which has become so prevalent in the US that it amounts to a human rights crisis. https://t.co/bsVsiBOO5K pic.twitter.com/CVWEyVzR3c
