GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) — Erie County Sheriff's deputies have arrested the man responsible for a hit and run on Grand Island.
The incident took place along Staley Road Sunday night just before 8. The victim said a dark-colored pick-up truck hit his car and drove off.
The Sheriff's Office tells us they received an anonymous tip leading deputies to 28-year-old Brandon Smith, who admitted to driving the car. He said he thought he hit a deer.
Smith also had a revoked license at the time due to a previous DWI conviction. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, traffic violations for leaving the scene of an incident, and operating an unregistered and uninsured car on the highway.
