University Police target patrols after carjacking near Buffalo State campus

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo Police are investigating an armed robbery near Buffalo State campus Saturday afternoon, according to a safety advisoryreleased by the college's University Police.

The incident occurred at Hawley and Letchworth Streets where the victim says a suspect displayed a semi-automatic hand gun and order the man to get out of his car. That suspect then fled the scene with the man's vehicle.

Police are now searching for that suspect who is described as a about 5'7", thin-build, light-skinned black male with a mustache and was wearing a grey hoodie.

The victim was not a student and was unharmed. University Police say "targeted patrols" will happen this weekend in that area.

The advisory adds BPD is asking any one with information to call the confidential tipline at 716-847-2255.
