LEWISTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two people from Niagara Falls are now under arrest, accused of burglarizing a Gasport restaurant.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, crews were called to the Canalside Inn on Main Street around 3:15 am on Wednesday.

Investigators say when they arrived on scene they noticed that a window was broken, an ATM was stolen and the cash register and lottery machine had both been entered.

Based on prior police information, other Niagara County units were looking for a Porsche SUV for its involvement in other burglaries in the county. According to deputies, the Porsche was spotted on Saunders Settlement Road in the Town of Cambria. Deputies say the driver refused to stop and Lewiston Police laid down spike strips, popping a tire on the SUV.

The driver was identified as 53-year-old Michael C. Stewart and the passenger as 39-year-old Anna L.McLaughlin. Investigators say evidence from the burglary was spotted in the vehicle.

Stewart and McLaughlin are both charged with Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Criminal Mischief.
