Two dozen jobs eliminated at HSBC's Depew facility

DEPEW, N.Y. (WKBW) — Approximately 2 dozen jobs have been eliminated from the HSBC facility in Depew according to a representative of international banking and financial services company. Impacted employees were notified of the layoffs this month.

Most of those positions are in the U.S. retail banking and wealth management division with the remainder coming out of the bank's global operations unit.

Sherman adds that HSBC is actively creating new positions and are currently hiring in Western New York. With the layoffs, HSBC still employs arounf 3,000 people in the Buffalo area.
