Two Buffalo Police Officers seriously injured following altercation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two Buffalo Police Officers were seriously injured in an altercation Tuesday night.

The incident took place on the 100 block of Southampton Street at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say that both officers approached a vehicle that was illegally parked and allegedly observed a firearm on one of the suspects.

According to police, the suspects attempted to drive away and the officers were dragged by the vehicle the suspects were in.

One of the suspects drove over one of the officer's feet, the officers were dragged about "six lengths," police say.

Police have arrested 28-year-old Marcus Prewitt and 30-year-old Nicolas Johnson.

According to police, Prewitt and Johnson are both on parole and have been charged with:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon
  • Obstructing governmental administration
  • Resisting arrest
  • Attempted aggravated assault
  • Assault
  • Attempted assault on a police officer
  • Reckless driving
  • Reckless endangerment
