BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — State police are warning travelers to be extra careful on the road this weekend. While fewer drivers are expected to be on the road , AAA says fewer cars mean more space on the road.

Which may lead to more reckless driving, and drivers pushing the speed limit.

"It's amazing how many hundreds and hundreds of feet it takes to stop your car by every five miles an hour you go," said New York State Trooper James O'Callaghan, "Even if it's a thruway or a parkway or something like that, you can't stop your car in the event of something happening"

Officials are still encouraging people to stay home, and continue to practice social distancing. However, they warn anyone hitting the road to drive safely.
