MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) — State Police are looking for the tractor trailer driver involved in a deadly hit and run Friday morning.

First responders were called to the scene on the westbound thruway in the town of Wheatland in Monroe County. According to investigators, it appears a tractor-trailer attempted to make a u-turn across the westbound lanes of traffic, when a vehicle also traveling in the westbound lanes struck and drove under the tractor-trailer. The driver of the car and a passenger in that vehicle were both killed. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators say the tractor-trailer driver left the scene. The vehicle involved is described as a yellow Volvo truck with a sleeper cab pulling a trailer with driver side damage. Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Police at: 518-436-2825 or 585-398-4100.
