BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Master's Tournament kicked off today with the Par 3 contest-- and of course, there's a Buffalo connection. OnCore Golf created an innovative golf ball that caught the eye of legendary golfer and three time Masters Tournament Champion Gary Player. He teed off around 3pm using Buffalo-based OnCore Golf balls.
"It was a dream come true, we want players out there using our technology using our golf balls," Steve Coulton, co-owner of OnCore Golf said.
OnCore Golf has been producing innovative products in Buffalo for seven years. Owners say they focus on research-- there mission is to create the most accurate golf ball in the world.
The innovative golf balls are made with high-density particles around the perimeter of the ball. Owners say the high density particles helps the ball travel longer with the driver but with a shorter club, a player will experience the softness and spin.
"Kinda brings the best of both worlds to the golf ball," Bret Blakely, co-owner of OnCore said.
Owners say they are also working on a ball with GPS built into it and hope to continue to make cutting edge products for every level of golfer.
"We have the support of all of Buffalo, Gary Player, we got a great team here and we just want to keep expanding," Coulton said.
OnCore golf balls are sold online and at major retailers.
