BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Think before you drink and drive, that's the message coming from State, County and Local Police.

Travelers can expect to see roving DWI patrols throughout the New Year's Eve holiday. According to county officials, the extra enforcement is in addition to regular patrols at all Erie County police agencies.

A spokesperson with the county says through December 24 of this year, 2,312 drivers have been arrested for Impaired Driving in Erie County.

A number of safe options are available to help prevent drinking and driving. New Yorkers are also encouraged to download the "Have a Plan" app for local options and to learn more about the consequences of Driving While Intoxicated.
