These Buffalo foods are headed to Houston

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — There's nothing Buffalonians love more than the Bills, but food does come close. That's why Ciavetta's, Sahlen's and Labatt will all be headed to Houston. Sponge candy, wings and bison dip are making their way too.

"My best friend Mark from back home, he's going to be sending us Sahlen's hot dogs. We're going to do the Bison chip dip. I'm going to request some Mighty Taco, so we're going to do the best we can to make it a Buffalo party," said Paul Szymonek.

Szymonek moved from Buffalo to Austin over a dozen years ago. He'll be making the two and a half hour drive to Houston with his wife and children with a package of Buffalo goodies sent from his best friend back home Mark. But he still does miss one thing in particular the most: WNY pizza.

"To be honest with you... I miss the pizza. It's hard to get," said Szymonek.

But there is pizza from one Buffalo staple headed down south. La Nova has been taking orders, shipping wings and pizza to Houston for the past week.

"It's been crazy. Wait till we're in the Super Bowl. It's going to be really crazy," said Joe Todaro, owner of La Nova Pizzeria.

There will definitely be all kinds of Buffalo foods served before the game, but it may be a bit tamer than your usual Bills tailgate.

"So from what I hear, there's a lot off site that's going to let us do what we want to do," Szymonek said.

The Bills tailgate is going to be in the lot pictured above. It opens at 8 a.m. It's $40 per car, $10 for walk ins.
