(WKBW) — The government will pay you $1,000 to adopt an untrained wild horse or burro from the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
The goal of the Adoption Incentive Program is to combat a growing over-population of wild horses and burros on fragile public rangelands.
Applicants must provide a place for the horse that meets the minimum requirements of the program. You can read about the requirements here.
People who qualify to adopt a wild horse will receive $500 within 60 days of adoption and titling the animal.
There is a $25 adoption application fee. You can visit the federal Bureau of Land Management's site for more information.
