BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Downtown Buffalo bar ordered to close last weekend for COVID-related violations will reopen at 9 p.m. tonight.

The Erie County Department of Health has approved a corrective action plan from The Cowboy on Chippewa Street.

The health department shut down the bar on Saturday based on findings from two recent inspections, including improper face mask use.

The county has since signed off on a safety plan submitted by bar management.

An executive order from Governor Andrew Cuomo requires face masks to be worn in all businesses. Another order, which takes effect today, requires bars and restaurants to only serve alcohol to customers who order prepared food. The governor's office says the intention is to stop customers from congregating at a bar while waiting to be served drinks.
