Tenants calling for eviction-free year in New York state

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Gov. Cuomo's moratorium on evictions was originally set to expire this past Friday, meaning landlords couldn't kick you out for failing to make rent.

Last month, that was extended until at least August 30th, still it came with some changes.

Now renters have to prove coronavirus-related financial hardship, in order to stay protected from eviction.

Tenants and housing advocates will be hosting a rally, outside the Buffalo Housing Court, calling for an 'Eviction-free New York' for the rest of the year.
