BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A suspected child predator is under arrest, but investigators fear more victims could be out there.

38-year-old Christopher B. Lapress is charged with Rape, Promoting a Sexual Performance of a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

State Police say the investigation started in August of 2018, when they got word from Virginia State Police about an online investigation that revealed Lapress was sharing child pornography. Investigators say they were able to link him to a home in South Buffalo.

As that investigation unfolded, detectives say they discovered that Lapress had engaged in sexual activity with a child in 2010. The victim, police say, was 13 years-old at the time.

Police say Lapress was also found to have requested nude photographs of a separate 16-year-old victim in 2018. According to detectives, he sent an image of child pornography to an acquaintance through a dating App.

Lapress is currently being held without bail at the Erie County Holding Center and is scheduled to appear for a felony hearing on September 8, 2020.
