BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Diocese of Buffalo has scheduled a study day for priests in February, amid the sex abuse crisis that's gripped the diocese.

A statement posted on the diocese's website indicates the study day will take place at Christ the King Seminary on February 12 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The study day will deal with issues of due process for priests accused of sexual abuse, the priest's canoncial and civil rights, and support and accompaniment during the time of investigation and administrative leave.

The statement, attributed to the chair and secretary of the Presbyteral Council, said more details on the study day are forthcoming.

The statement also said a year of healing will begin during Lent, and indicates that a synod (authoritative meeting meant to deal with a specific issue) may be convened.
