Students escape burning school bus

SHELDON, N.Y. (WKBW) — Seventeen students escaped a burning school bus this morning in Wyoming County.

According to New York State Police, the driver saw smoke coming from the engine and noticed a burning smell around 7:50 this morning on Maxon Road off Route 20A in Sheldon. The driver pulled over the bus and ordered the students to evacuate. By the time rescuers arrived, the bus was engulfed in flames.

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
