St. John Fisher College suspends cheerleading activities due to video with discriminatory language

PITTSFORD, N.Y. — According to 13WHAM in Rochester, St. John Fisher College has suspended cheerleading activities due to a video that surfaced which allegedly shows the team using discriminatory language.

WHAM says the video appears to show members of the cheerleading team singing along to a popular rap song that contains the discriminatory language.

“As a campus community, we will not support acts or behaviors that are not consistent with the values espoused in our mission statement and in the Fisher Creed,” a statement released by the college Friday read.

WHAM says the college has launched an investigation and will follow an internal disciplinary process.
