BUFFALO, N.Y. WKBW) — With school right around the corner, school supply shopping is on the horizon. If you want a free haircut, maybe pick up a few extra materials.

Truth Barber Shop in South Buffalo is offering a special. If people donate at least $10 worth of school supplies they will get a free basic haircut. The haircuts will only be done Monday-Wednesday but if a person comes in on the weekend to donate for the cause, they will get a voucher to get a haircut during the week.

The shop has only been open for eight months but David Casillas, a barber at the shop, says they are excited to give back to the community.

"We see it on a daily basis, the struggle people go through," Casillas said. "People can't afford to come in and get a haircut. If it is in our means to help out and change someone's day just by one little act of kindness, we are all about it."

This special promotion will last the whole month of August. Casillas hopes to be able to fill 100 back packs for families in need. Casillas says people can donate backpacks, pencils, paper, everything kids would need for school.

On September 3rd the Barber shop will host a BBQ and hand out the back packs to people that need them.
