BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Unyts had to cancel more than three days of blood drives because of WNY's snow storms last week, resulting in a low supply of critical blood and platelets.
The organization provides blood to Kaleida Health, ECMC, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Eastern Niagara Health Systems and the Wyoming County Community Health System. Without these critical donations, hospitals are under more pressure in case of an emergency.
With the cancellation of several drives, the community blood bank lost approximately 240 red blood cell and 20 platelet units.
