BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — This is *snow joke.*

Buffalo will likely become the snowiest big city in New York state.

The weather in Syracuse put up a good fight, but in the end, neighbors in Buffalo did a little more shoveling than our friends down the Thruway.

So how much snow fell at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport during the 2018-19 winter season? About 9.83 feet, or 118.8 inches of snow. That's good enough to win this year's Golden Snowball competition.

Only a few less flakes fell in Syracuse, they saw 115 inches.

At this point in the year, it is unlikely that Old Man Winter will stick around and drop some more nuisance snow in May.

The Golden Snowball is a friendly competition between five cities in New York. Syracuse typically wins the contest because of the lack of ice that forms on Lake Ontario during the winter months.
