CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Smoke on the Water, a BBQ restaurant with an Ellicott Creek backdrop located at 77 Young Street in the City of Tonawanda was opened by Richert Family in July 2011, just over eight years later the family says the restaurant is up for sale.
The owners state they opened the restaurant for their family and are now selling it for the same reason.
We opened Smoke on the Water for our Family and are now selling for the same reason. Things are different for us now and we need to be able to focus our attention and efforts on our youngsters. We have built a thriving business that has grown exponentially every year. Our hope is to find a motivated entrepreneur to carry our Torch. Smoke on the Water has become a staple of the community and should remain as such.

The owners expressed their appreciation for every customer that has supported their business over the more than eight years.
Business will operate "as usual" during the sale process according to the owners, the only change is gift cards will no longer be sold. Outstanding gift cards will still be accepted under the Richert family's ownership.
A final note. We are very proud of what we have done for our Community. Our decision to move on to the next chapter was not an easy one. We know this news may come as a great surprise and that you may feel compelled to discuss it with us or our staff. We asked that you refrain from this as it is not goodbye, we’ll just be seeing you on the other side of the Bar!!
