Six bags of marijuana confiscated from father and son at Peace Bridge, both charged

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Custom border officials say a father and son were caught smuggling six bags of marijuana into the US from Canada at the Peace Bridge last Friday.

According to authorities, both 60-year-old Kenneth Francis Munroe and 30-year-old Kenneth Philip Munroe gave false statements to US Customs and Border Protection when they were asked if they had any drugs and or contraband.

7 Eyewitness News has learned that Kenneth Francis Munroe is the founder of Munroe Chiropractic in Williamsville.

Authorities searched the vehicle and found six bags of suspected marijuana. They say two of the bags were concealed in the pants of Kenneth Philip Munroe-- while three bags were found in Kenneth Francis Munroe's pants. The sixth bag was found under the driver's seat.

Both suspects have been charged with entry of goods by means of false statements and simple possession of a controlled substance. They face up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
