Shots fired at off-duty Buffalo police lieutenant

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — One person is in custody after an off-duty Buffalo police lieutenant was shot at Thursday night.

Police say the gunfire came from a person inside a stolen car at Bame and Treehaven around 6:30 p.m. According to police, the off-duty lieutenant observed suspicious activity and was attempting to get the license plate information when the individual fired a shot.

The lieutenant was not injured. Police say the suspect vehicle then drove off at a high rate of speed.

Officers found the car a short time later and took one person into custody. A gun has also been recovered, police said.

The individual in custody is facing numerous charges.

Police continue to look for three other individuals who may be involved in the incident.
