TOWN OF NIAGARA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A t-shirt depicting Mickey Mouse appearing to inject heroin has been removed from a store in the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls.

According to a statement from the mall, they were made aware of the shirt, sold by retailer "Free Agent", over the weekend and made the decision to have the shirt removed from the storefront.

"We took immediate action to have the item removed. Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls is a family-friendly destination and we will work with that retailer to ensure this does not occur again."

In a Facebook post, "Free Agent" addressed the controversial shirt, explaining that it's intended message, "is to illustrate how no one is immune to the allure and danger of drugs," and they never intended to mock the problem of drug addiction. Online, the shirt is now listed as "sold out" and there are no plans to restock it.
