BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Summer plans have been shifted, and many summer camps are shifting virtual. Kids and adults will still get their theater fix this summer.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center will be hosting three different virtual summer camps.

Shea’s VIRTUAL Summer Musical Theatre Intensive, great for kids in 5th grade to seniors who love musical theatre.

The Actor’s Edge VIRTUAL Summer Acting Intensive, this is for high schoolers who want to get a head start on their learning.

Both of these camps include virtual group sessions, pre-taped videos to watch, voice coaching lessons, and independent home study lessons. The camps run from July 13th-August 7th with three hours of instruction each day for $100 a week.

New for this year-- Shea’s will be offering an adult summer class for beginners or experienced actors. Anyone 18 and up will be able to get a theatre lesson. This camp runs July 13th- August 7th for $150 a week.

Director of Arts Engagement Thembi Duncan says they are excited to keep the theater community connected.

“Theater training gives you this incredible ability to be in touch with your emotions, to speak up, to articulate your thoughts and ideas," Duncan said. "It also teaches things like punctuality, collaboration, critical thinking, creative problem solving, there are so many soft skills you get from doing this work.”

There will also be special guests from Broadway to give advice and talk about their path to success. You can sign up here.
