Seven programs will receive funding from the state to help combat poverty in WNY

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Today, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will announce the seven programs that will be receiving the second phase of funding to help combat poverty in Buffalo.

The Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) dedicates $25 million dollars to training and educational programs to help low-income people get and retain jobs.

Last year more than $800,000 went to seven programs in Jamestown. The Resource Center in Jamestown received $194,000 for programs to help low-income workers with handling financial emergencies, child care and transportation costs.
