School bus driver dies after crash in Cattaraugus County

TOWN OF ISCHUA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A school bus driver in Cattaraugus County has died after his bus crashed into a ditch Tuesday morning.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, a First Student bus was traveling north on Route 16 in the Town of Ischua just after 9 a.m. when it crashed into the ditch.

Investigators say the driver, a 57-year-old man from Cheektowaga, was ejected from the bus. His name has not been released at this time.

The driver was taken to Olean General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a female bus monitor was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

No students were on board the bus at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
