NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — “We are open seven days a week and we are here to stay in Tonawanda," owner of the Rustic Buffalo Artisan Market John Pirrone said.
The artisan market opened at 6610 Shawnee Road in North Tonawanda on November 14 making it the a home for more than 50 local artists.
“Artist were really suffering in the community with all the festivals, all the events being canceled, so we thought we would create a market for artisans, local artisans, to sell their goods,” Pirrone said.
Pirrone said more than 300 artists applied to join his market.
“And we had to pick between 50 and 54 different artisans, so we picked the best of the best so our community can be proud of that, and come into Rustic Buffalo Artisan Market and shop the best of the best,” he said.
The market is filled with art from local candle makers, paint makers, jewelry makers and more.
“It makes us feel absolutely wonderful to help these different artisans," Pirrone said. "You know they’ve been struggling for close to a year almost. They’ve had all of this product locked up, and now it’s their time to succeed.”
The artisan market will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“We have received so much positive feedback on Facebook and it's just been an overwhelming amount of gratitude," Pirrone said. "They’re happy that we’re in the community and they’re happy that they can shop local because shopping local is very important especially now a days and we’re really proud of that."
