BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In what is being described as management shifting focus of business to production and retail sales, Ru's Pierogi will close its doors to its Niagara Street restaurant October 18th.

The restaurant has been located at 295 Niagara Street in Buffalo since November 2016.

Eight employees will be impacted by the closure but one of Ru's founders, Zack Schneider, says he’s looking to reassign some to their production facility or their partner companies.

“It’s been a great ride, but all good things must come to an end,” said Schneider. “With the retail aspect of the business really taking off, we’ve decided to concentrate on growing that segment.”

The production facility where the pierogi are made will not be impacted.

Ru's Pierogi can still be purchased at Wegmans, Tops, Lexington Co-Op, Premier Gourmet and many local restaurants.

"Anyone who has a gift certificate to Ru’s Pierogi can either redeem it for dine-in/takeout at the restaurant, or use its face value to purchase bagged frozen pierogi at the restaurant for home preparation. Both options are valid until October 18," the release states.

Ru's will keep the restaurant equipment in place as of now and may explore franchise opportunities in the future.

“On behalf of the founders, managers and investors, I want to express a heartfelt thank you to all of our families, and friends who became family during this journey,” said Schneider. “We couldn’t have asked for better staff and customers, and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon. Remember, it’s not goodbye, but see you later.”
