BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Roswell Park says it is ready to test for Coronavirus.

Roswell is one of 28 contracted labs that the state has chosen for COVID-19 testing. Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul and health professionals say testing is key to controlling the spread of the virus.

It's known that Coronavirus hits people with compromised immune systems the hardest, so that's why Hochul and hospital staff want to make it clear--- if you have a loved one being treated at Roswell the testing site will not put them at greater risk of catching COVID-19.

"No patients are going to walk in here and get tested," said Dr. Candace Johnson of Roswell Park. "We will receive samples that are swabs and collected in sterile tubes."

People being tested for Coronavirus will not be walking the halls of Roswell Park.

Lt. Gov. Hochul says testing will begin this week. At its peak, Roswell will be able to test more than 40 cases as the need arises.
