BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Almost 8,000 riders pedaled their way around Buffalo and Canada for the Ride for Roswell. The community also raised a record-breaking amount of money for the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center-- more than $5.5 million dollars.

"If you look around everyone is touched by cancer," President & CEO of Roswell Park Dr.Candace Johnson said. "We all know someone or we have a loved one, it affects everyone and we are all touched by the terrible disease."

This year marked the 24th year of the ride and total number of donations equals $53 million since 1996.

The weekend started with the celebration of hope Friday night celebrating patients and survivors while also remembering the ones we have lost.

With 10 different routes throughout Buffalo, riders started at Roswell Park, UB North and even in Canada to ride in honor of a friend, loved one or for a survivor.
