Back to normal Wednesday at Rath Building

According to Erie County Executive, Mark Poloncarz, a water line servicing the main heating and cooling units on the fifth floor broke and flooded various floors, the stairs, and the elevator shafts. The Rath Building houses a number of departments for Erie County, including the Erie County Executive's office, the department of health, and the department of public works.

All floors of the Rath Building will reopen Wednesday, two days after a water line break forced the 16-story county office building to close.

A main heating and cooling unit gasket broke Monday morning, flooding portions of the second through fifth floors. Several elevator shafts and staircases were also flooded.
