BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Jail Management Division and Peace prints of Western New York is being honored with the New York State Sheriff's Association Institute's Innovative Program Award for the development and implementation of Project Blue.
The goal of the program is to help reduce the chances of an inmate from repeating the same offense by helping them fill services for inmates at the Erie County Holding Center and Correctional Facility.
Project Blue serves individuals at medium to high risk of re-incarceration and provides twelve months of post-release services including, substance and mental health treatment, job training, and continuing education opportunities.
This is the fourth time the Erie County Sheriff's Office has won this award.
