SHERIDAN, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Williamsville man is arrested nearly two weeks after State Police say 26-year old Joseph Nelson led them on a police chase on the I-90.

According to investigators, officers tried stopping a vehicle driven by Nelson on I-90 in the town of Sheridan for a vehicle and traffic violation back on June 5. During the traffic stop, police discovered that Nelson was driving with a suspended license and had multiple warrants out of the Town of Amherst Police Department.

When troopers pulled Nelson's car over and asked him to get out of his car, he sped off. Police ended the chase after Nelson drove through a closed toll lane while exiting the Thruway at the Dunkirk exit.

State Police located Nelson on June 14, 2019. He was taken into custody and charged with several charges including Reckless Endangerment and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle.
At last check, Nelson is sitting in the Chautauqua County holding center. No bail information or return court date available.
