Police respond to second North Harmony deadly crash, six hours after first

NORTH HARMONY, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police are investigating another deadly crash in the Town of North Harmony that happened six hours apart from a crash that occurred earlier Wednesday.

The second deadly crash happened at about 10:15 Wednesday morning. Police say a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign on Magnolia Stedman Road and drove onto Route 394. The pickup truck struck a commercial vehicle. The commercial vehicle rolled over as a result of the crash.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, identified as James A. Ellis, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital and is being treated for injuries.

Police continue to investigate a separate deadly crash in the Town of North Harmony that happened early Wednesday at 4:15 a.m. The accident closed I-86 for several hours from the Panama-Stedman to Stow exits.
