CAMBRIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Cambria man is facing insurance fraud charges after police say he lied about his car being broken into, and his gun being stolen.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Kenneth Cousins reported that his car was broken into on November 27th, and that his handgun was taken from a lockbox.
Polcie say after interviewing witnesses and checking surveillance footage, they determined Cousins was lying to try and get a $1,000 insurance payout. The gun was later found in the Town of Newfane.
Cousins is charged with Tampering with Public Records, Insurance Fraud and Grand Larceny among other things.
