EVANS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Town of Evans Police have identified the body found New Year's Eve at Woodlawn Beach as that of an Evans man who had been missing for a month.

Mark Pelgrin, 65, was last seen December 2nd at his home. He was reported missing on December 6th.

Investigators believe Pelgrin fell 80 feet into 18 Mile Creek near his home. A search of the area and water nearby home turned up no sign of Pelgrin in the days after his disappearance.

Erie County's Air One unit located a body at Woodlawn Beach early Monday afternoon. It was positively identified as the body of Pelgrin Wednesday.

Police say it appears his death was accidental.
