BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — A Jamestown man is facing a number of charges following the burglary of a home in Chautauqua County.

State Police say 44 year old Michael Barringer stole jewelry, cash and other items from a home in the town of Sherman back on September 2.

He was later spotted by troopers in Jamestown.

Police say Barringer tried to escape by running away, but he was captured following a brief foot chase.

Troopers say the suspect had the stolen items on him, along with bags of heroin and methamphetamine.

He's charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
