CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Town of Tonawanda man is charged with driving while impaired by drugs after police say he was found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle on the Twin City Highway.

According to police, 18-year-old Jacob Pettit was found near Fillmore Avenue in the left lane Sunday evening with his doors locked and the vehicle in drive. Police tried to wake him up, but they were unsuccessful.

Authorities say firefighters broke the driver's side window to attend to Pettit.

Pettit showed signs of intoxication and was slurring his speech, and became combative with authorities, according to police. He was restrained in an ambulance and taken to the hospital.

Officials say the Town of Tonawanda teen was under the influence of alcohol and CNS depressants.

While searching the vehicle, police found a water bong packed with marijuana.

Pettit is charged with DWAI, DWI, obstructing emergency medical services, operating a vehicle impaired by drug and possession of marijuana.
