LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — It was a short trip from the scene of the arrest to the Niagara County Jail for a Buffalo man who allegedly stole a vehicle and fled from sheriff's deputies, late Tuesday night.
According the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Justin J. Anderson, 18, of Buffalo, was spotted erratically driving a stolen car on Lower Mountain Road in Lockport, just before 11pm on Tuesday.
Deputies tried to pull Anderson over when he then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a garage on Sebastian Drive. Anderson then allegedly ran from the crash scene into the parking lot of the Sheriff's Office, just next door.
Unfortunately for Anderson, but very fortunate for deputies, the parking lot was filled with officers as there was a shift change at that time. The arrest was captured by surveillance cameras.
“It is not every day that we have someone literally fleeing a scene of an incident through our parking lot and into the arms of awaiting deputies- you can’t make this stuff up, especially on April Fool’s Day.”
Anderson and the arresting officers took a short walk to the county jail where he is being held on a list of charges that include driving while impaired, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.
